About Us
Gabriela G. Mellado
Principal of CIT
She was raised and educated in Baja California, Mexico, Texas, and California, and trained as a Professional Translator & Interpreter at the University of California, San Diego.
For over 22 years, Gabriela has collaborated directly and as a subcontractor with public and private enterprises, consultants, and community organizations who find a true asset in her deep understanding of the Latin American and Latinx markets.
Gabriela leads the work of CIT, which has offices in San Diego, California, and Ensenada, Baja California, Mexico. She has earned a solid reputation across industries as an expert partner to her clients who do not hesitate to call upon her for all sorts of projects, ranging from simple marketing materials to complex diplomatic trade missions across multiple Latin American countries.

Interpreting
Interpreting is an art form that requires extraordinary cognitive abilities. Interpreting is “verbal translation,” in which an interpreter utters the meaning of what was said in the target language after hearing it once in a source language.
The most common modes of interpreting are simultaneous, performed the time of the exposure to the source language, and consecutive, performed by taking turns with the speaker.
CIT provides remote and in-person interpreting services for 1 or 1000 people.
Translation
CIT follows sophisticated processes to handcraft and represent your ideas within the context of a different language and culture. Translations are effective to the extent you can reach your target audience’s heart and intellect and compel them to act.
Translation: the process of writing words or text from one language into another.
Localization: cultural adaptation. Transmits the meaning of the words in a way that is culturally appropriate and connects with the audience more effectively. It simply goes further than translation, including images and color assessment, layouts, time, and date formats. In other words, localization includes copy and images for a specific audience or market.
Transcreation: a blend of localization and creative writing. It targets the emotions.
